Artistically arranged by loving hands and an imaginative spirit pieces of lace lie sorted and awaiting tags for an upcoming show.
Each one a reflection of its creator the light, delicate threads are as fine as a spider's web.
Some were cherished for years, tucked away to stir a memory or hidden beneath one's outer garments.
Others were utilitarian, woven for bedding, toweling and household use. Often initialed by the maker they were stacked in wardrobes, cupboards and dressers.
Each one a wonderment of their construction soon to be treasured by someone else.

I think I'd like to sleep on a real linen pillowcase.
I visited an elderly friend recently. She grew up in a big house in Ireland and when she came to Canada in the 40's she brought all her household linen. On the day of my visit she was 'turning' her linen sheets and cutting others to make new pillowcases. I felt as though I'd landed in a novel of long ago - such thrift, such beautiful needlework.

I love the pillow case with its scallops and buttons, this is a beautiful collection and so inspiring. At a degree show I went to recently the graduates had made the most modern items but had used the old stitch work like fagoting and filet work and it all looked so new and clever.
