March
Mother Nature has chosen to set forth her invitation to March with the roar of a lion...
We hearty souls here in the Northeast have relinquished to her wishes and as the woodpile begins to dwindle, the snow continues to fall and the beauty of Spring lies hidden beneath 10 or more inches of ice crystals we shall patiently wait...
My little guessing game yielded two winners - Christine for the first correct answer. Pictured were indeed bud vases that were used in early automobiles to distract from the scent of wet leather ( the seats). The one on the right being that from a hearse which was positioned right behind the driver's head to bring the sweetness of the blossoms into the vehicle. The remainder of the names were collected and one was drawn from the old yelloware bowl. The second winner - Laura.
Thank you for playing...
May your March be filled with the fragrance of an early Spring bouquet...

Sorry to hear you are still so snow-bound Susan, I hope you will get some spring-like weather soon;) Prompted by your picture of the gorgeous lions, you have me searching my little grey cells trying to think of the proverb for the advent of March ...?
Well done to Christine and Laura - they have a treat in store!
Oh there is nothing like an unexpected bouquet of flowers to lift the spirit.
Have a wonderful week Susan.

March came into the Island like a......toothless lion, or perhaps a cranky lamb. It was a dull, grey day, a little colder than it's been, but nothing at all when compared to your weather.
What beautiful flowers from your daughter - I'll bet they did the trick!
Congratulations to Christine and Laura! I love learning this history Susan! Fascinating. I would never have thought they were used in this way. Such a sweet gift from your daughter~ (:
congrats to the winners!!! we had some snow over the weekend, which was actually welcomed as it covered all of the dirty snow under a fresh blanket of white...i am really tired of being so cold though...i am longing for spring...

Your spring will mysteriously bless you, as pretty as the little automobile vases and the sweet gift from your daughter.
You have that special ability to enjoy each moment, and so the beautiful snow simply offers you yet more serenity for your contemplation.

May the warmth of Spring keep coming your way...Blessings to you, Dzintra♥x
A slight consolation to see that you too still have snow, and to share. Winter has been a really tough one this year, I think. But, I have not lost my faith in that spring will (eventually...) come.
I'm loving that bird in the nest!
