The Passage of Time

Tis true it is only July but there are subtle changes on the landscape...

the fields have yielded their first crop of hay.

The sunflowers are blooming in my garden

and down there in the lush green vines lie the beginnings of plump pumpkins, soaking up the rain water and basking in the sunshine...

One of my readers had inquired about a flower I had shown in a previous post.
They are called Goosenecks... small wonder why.

The farmer's are working on their second cutting of hay already around here! Unfortunately, its been so hot and dry that everything else is suffering and is drying out. It's hard to notice subtle changes in conditions like this...

Your photos are lovely as always!

Beautiful!
The first time I had seen Goosenecks was in a Tasha Tudor book and I fell in love! : )

After a slow start, we are now in our dry season. Hay was cut two weeks ago and there will be at least one more cutting. Already, though, I notice that the days are shortening - not enough to spoil the summer feeling, of course, but enough to remind me that we are moving towards August.

Hello there... I found your blog through June at Laughing With Angels, and I am so happy I did! What a very lovely blog you have... the photo of the barn is beautiful, as are the fields of hay and the gorgeous sunflowers... it looks like your home is in a most beautiful serene place... I love the bucolic lifestyle we both share, as I live in a small rural town as well... I am excited to read your older posts, and am signing on as a follower... I also love your precious little pets on your sidebar... xoxo Julie Marie PS I too realize it is only July, but there are subtle changes in our landscape as well... one simply must know what to look for...

Oh I just love seeing your beautiful part of Canada. The landscape there is breathtaking and I always have wanted to visit. Seeing that gorgeous barn sitting there in the background with the bales of fresh baled hay, seems so nostalgic somehow.
I hope your week ahead is a great one. You will soon be making pumpkin pie, I think!
hugs
