We are locked in a heatwave and though we may wilt beneath its oppression, the functions in the garden continue like the ticking of the clock...
Unfettered by the relentless humidity or perhaps encouraged so, the flowers bloom forth with abandon.
So too is the journey of the bee, traveling hither and fro gathering nectar to appease her Queen and bestow the gift of honey to we humans.
I am thankful for the bright sunshine and as one takes refuge in a quiet corner on the porch or beneath a shady tree, it is a perfect excuse to do as little as possible and perhaps be a little creative as well...
Miss Maddie has found herself a comfortable spot to enjoy the lazy days of Summer.

Oh she is so so sweet! I love to see Miss Maddie. She is so pretty! Fabulous flower photos. I imagine a beautiful garden. Gorgeous yarn too! Our heatwave has lessened today. It has not felt quite so oppressive. I have to admit, I love the warmth of the sun. Enjoy! Ros
I've heard lots about your heatwave. Out here, summer arrived at about 11 this morning. On my way to work I had to turn on the car heater, but by 11 the sun had come out and summer has rolled in! I spoke with my son today and he said that in Kingston they are 'stewing' in the heat.
Good morning-
your flower photos are soooooooooo beautiful! You have a good view for such shots! Those flowers look very elegant- I like both colors!
Miss Maddie is such a treasure! I also love it, to watch my puppies, lying to relax, when it ´s hot. A big kiss to her- she was my inspiration for Tiffy and I´ll never forget that :-)) Meanwhile Ginger loves it, to play with her- she looks happy and that´s wonderful to see...
Enjoy your day!
Love and kisses- Ines
love the flowers! All I am doing is watering and watering!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for sending us this heatwave from Canada, ha ha. Even the Queen left New York in a hurry....
Miss Maddie has the right idea, time for a noon nap!
God bless, Evi
Oh what a rest for the eyes over here! The pictures are beautiful ~ the flower at top is just amazing and one I've never seen! And the music is so lovely. Bless you, Susan (and Miss Maddie)! Hope you have a little break from the heat today. My editor is in NYC ~ has it really been 102 degrees there!? Have a wonderful day.
I appreciate your writing here as well as your lovely garden, lovely to meet you!
By the way... the photo of your clothesline on your sidebar is stunning, I appreciate the words that you shared with me surrounding wash day. Truly beautiful, thank you.
Hello Susan...how gorgeous!!! And look at Miss Maddie's lovely quilt...so pretty for those lazy days...Enjoy your lazy hazy days...they are simply the best!!! Dzintra♥x
Your hollyhocks are beautiful; what richness of color. . . And there you are knitting away with the same beautiful colors of your garden.
We have been experiencing the same heat in the midwest and I wonder if I would have ever survived 200 years ago with the layers of clothing one wore back then.
Have a cool and restful day!
Laura
The first photo looks like waves on the sea!
I agree, a cool shade under a tree is a perfect place to be creative.

What lovely flowers? Hollyhocks or Rose of Sharon?
Miss Maddie knows the best way to spend an afternoon! I think I need to do some of that!
