Working for an auctioneer affords me the unique opportunity to travel through time...
from past to present.
As is with most estate sales, one can glimpse into an individuals lifetime; an accumulation of tokens, mementos and treasures...
items they felt worthy of collecting or preserving.
Tucked away, displayed or coveted, each is a reflection of an era in our lifetimes...
* Items from an estate coming up for auction in October.

Such wonderful old things, Susan.
Some lovely things. Don't you sometimes feel sad that treasures are lost by their owners? I suppose they find other owners at the auction!

It would have to be such an interesting job. I think it would be so fun to see all the amazing things you must see. I however, would feel like I needed to buy it ALL! I sometimes find it weird that families let some of the things go that they do, and keep the televisions. How strange is that???
I wonder what my children will keep and what they will sell away. I already know my magazine stash is going,LOL!
Thank you Susan for coming to the little getaway in the woods.
hugs to you...
Susan, what interesting treasures of the past you have the opportunity to see! I'm like June, I would want to buy all of it! :)
oh my God, I would have been soooo tempted to bid, especially the lace...( like I don't have enough!)
I am sure everything found a good home and is used again.
No sense just lying around in closets etc.
I enjoyed browsing through the goodies.
Hugs, Evi
Like so many others, I imagine that you must have the most interesting job! I miss the auctions I used to enjoy so much when we lived in Ontario. Auctions here are formal events, held in a storefront, with bits and pieces consigned from here and there - I'd love to attend another farm auction or estate auction, where there is a sense of history.
Your header is so sweet - perfect for autumn.
Hello dear Susan...I love it when you show us your visits through time...and the wonderful treasures that abound...all very worthy of collecting, and when the time comes a new owner for them!!! I hope you are enjoying the turn of the sun into autumn as our days are getting longer...Dzintra♥x
What lovely treasures:). Thanks for you kind comment on my blog-I am going to miss everybody!
Blessings,
Kim
What an array of wonderful things Susan. How intriguing your job must be. These treasures, loved and now lost by their owners will become someone else's treasures and so the story continues ... just lovely.

Ah I remember 'Kewpie dolls', and that photo of all the old Christmas baubles...so poignant !
So very many stories gently tucked away in boxes...So many precious dreams, memories, and lifetimes. Perhaps each and every bit will find hands and hearts that will treasure them yet again.
Warmly,
Judy
How absolutely lovely is everything! But your cats (I was blessed to have a Siamese cat for 12 years!) and dog...they are the best!!

Oh Susan ... I just would not be safe doing your job I would be broke and our home would look like an auction house......my hoarding desires would come to haunt me...

Lovely treasures....I especially love the ornaments! It would be difficult not to bring everything home! :)
I love all these treasures! My favourite thing in the world is to poke through thrift stores and antique malls in search of wonderful things to add to my many collections...:)
