These Eyes

When you look into your Mother's eyes do you see a reflection of yourself?

I'm not just speaking of resemblance, because features are passed from one generation to another. I am referring to one's inner self, habits, motivation and dedication.

As April draws to a close and the month of May lies ahead with it brings Mother's Day.

Remembering all the pain my own Mother has endured this past year, I am so thankful that I have been able to enjoy her presence and admire her devotion to family.

I only hope my daughter sees something equally good, when she gazes into her Mother's eyes.

Hello Susan, thinking about my mother's eyes it's the colour, and the fact they have never changed. We have always lived a long way from each other and somtimes only see one another once a year or even less, but when I see her, one look into those lovely eyes, and the years just fade away, magical.
Thankyou for your wonderful suggestion, my husband is over the moon with the idea of candles!!so am I ha ha.
Hugs you lovely lady.

Boy, did this hit a tender spot! Yep...I have been "accused" of being my mother's clone (not a bad thing). I always think of a line (paraphrased) from "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore", "I looked down at my sleeve and saw my momma's hand coming out!" It's such a strong connection - and one would hope every daughter could have a positive experience with her mother. I'm sure your bebe will have many sweet thoughts of you, Susan.

I haven't looked into your eyes but I've heard your voice. And I heard what I bet your daughter sees. A really wonderful strong caring woman who she's lucky to call mom.
Great wording Susan.

I do see myself in my Mother's eyes, but not just there. I have been in the eyes of my Gram and Great Gram. Jenny and Maude Addie. I pride myself in all that they have shown me and the honor of self and family.I know now their eyes smile down upon me and reassure me that I am of their hopes and dreams. Even when the path is difficult. My Mom has been beside me and she reassurs me that smart people know the difference between honest eys and lying eyes. She's right. I am fortunate to see her eyes most every day. Thank you Susan for capturing a wonderful thought and giving it to us so that we may hold it close and reflect how it touches us all.

Hi Susan, what a lovely post. Yes, I can see a bit of myself in my mothers eyes and it seems to me to be a little more so with each passing year. We truly do become our mothers don't we? ~ xoxo ~ Joy

Hello Susan. Another beautiful post and sentiment. My mom is such a giving and generous person that I am honored to have her as my mom.

I'm so sorry for what your mom has endured recently. I'm very sure your daughter sees the wonderful person you are when she looks into your eyes.

How did the auction go the other night?

Hugs,
Doreen

Eyes are the windows to the soul. Your words are beautiful. I do count myself as one of the lucky ones who does!

I am getting ready to go to the nursing home to visit my mother. She was such a wonderful mother. Loving, caring, everything you want a mother to be. I know I have so much of her in me. Her energy, love of home and family. She has dementia, and a bit her personality is gone, but she still remembers so much about her life, and thank God, she still remembers me. If you ever read my blog, you know how much I love her. Thank you for such a lovely post Susan.
