'Tis November

The flowers have all faded from the window box as it sits barren awaiting the dressing of the evergreens...

November is upon us... sharing her shorter daylight hours, frost across the fields and the promise of Holidays where we shall gather with family and friends once again...

View from the churchyard of St. Nicholas High Bradfield, Yorkshire, England my ancestral home.

" So dull and dark are the November days,
The lazy mist high up the evening curled,
And now the morn quite hides in smoke and haze;
The place we occupy seems all the world."

- John Clare

Beautiful post Susan. November can be a stark month, but it holds so many beautiful memories for me. I love Thanksgiving and holding all my loved ones near. I realize that you have already had your Thanksgiving and I hope it was blessed.

Wonderful John Clare quote ... thank you.
November can be dismal - it has started that way here but it's a prelude to December, which I love.
Your posts are so serene and calm Susan - its always a joy to visit.

That is a lovely evocative picture - and John Clare is a wonderful poet - he captures the natural world perfectly.

Hello Susan thats a great quote for a beautiful time in the year, gosh I adore the coming months they are magical and so special, make you feel so good just to wake up in the morning amongs the mists and smell of applewood burning, and the crows cawing across the fields.....I love the Church Yard, your ancestors maybe...how fabulous,if I find myself in this part of the landscape (which is quite likely) I shall take some more pictures for you...who knows what past life time they may bring to the surface...........
With love and hugs Lynn xxxx

I love the calm that comes in late October and early November. Summer is over and Christmas lies ahead, so for now we can curl up by the fire and rest.
