Memories

As the short month of February begins and anticipating the first signs of Spring, it is a bit of nostalgia I find myself reminiscing about...

The picture was taken back in September showing the beautiful blue sky and fluffy clouds. The remnants of the wharf in the distance is where once the ships docked bringing tourists to the infamous Crystal Beach Amusement Park along the shores of Lake Erie. ( if you would like to read more about it's history click here.)

Park goers came by ship or train, horse carriage and automobile... to spend the day, weekend or Summer riding the roller coasters, swimming at the beach and walking the promenade.

The other photo taken on the weekend, where neither the lake, the sky or the horizon are separated, except for the remnants of the wharf where once the tourists disembarked... Perhaps if it wasn't for the howling wind, one may be able to hear the ghostly voices of the fun seekers that came and went.

Meanwhile I've discovered the little pixie hats knit up quick and are a perfect opportunity to use some beautiful handspuns...

Enjoy the week!

Susan you live in an area so rich in history. I should read more about the area myself. The snowy picture looks much like the weather we have been having lately as well. Very little sunshine going on here.
That little pixie hat is the cutest hat ever! You couldn't have chosen a cuter hat if you tried.
Wishing you a little sunshine.
hugs to you...

Oh lovely pictures! And that spring green pixie hat in progress is just the perfect color. Maybe the wind howling is those voices from long past.

The pixie hat is so cute! I have a granddaughter on the way so maybe someday(??) Lake Eire reminds me of Lake Michigan, which is the Great Lake I grew up near. Looking at your photos stirs up a bit of nostalgia in me too.

Such a sweet, wee pixie with her hat! You have chosen a luscious yarn...I can just imagine the soft cuddle of it.
Once again, you have captured the winter beauty of Lake Erie...so very lovely.
Warm hugs to you,

Talk to me more about Spring... you mentioned it and it was gone again, I have so appreciated your lovely words over the past week....it seems to make the burden so much lighter sharing it with friends..especially friends who can spot the coming of Spring in the fall of light on a winters day...
That gorgeous hat is just that! Gorgeous

Hi Susan,
I love the pixie hat too!!! They look warm and sweet at the same time.

I live very close to the Wisconsin River and love taking drives and walk to visit with it. I love how the beauty of it changes from one season to the next. Thank you for sharing your wonderful memories.
