Challenges

Even though it is much easier to travel a well-trodden path adventure and fulfillment can be found by climbing a wall or passing through a gate...

Life is laden with challenges, but alas strength comes from confronting them as overwhelming as they may seem... to find the velvet lining that lingers beneath.

As the month of September brings the final harvests closer to their climax, the Autumn rains begin to fall and the temptations of savory soups please our pallet may you find a moment or two to enjoy its splendor...

It is certainly autumnal here today, but not in a nice way - cold, wet and windy. And there are a few challenges ahead too!

Beautiful images as always Susan, and yes fall is in the air here on the escarpment! Chilly this morning, with a few rays of sun coming through the trees. I need a few more days of warmth before I give in to an entrenched fall!! Nella xo

The challenges and obstacles that life brings are part of its richness, but in the moment it is sometimes very difficult to see them in that light.
Out here summer came late and still sits in all its glory. Some things in our garden will be touched by frost before they're ready for harvest, and we'll have a huge green tomato harvest, but that's just for this year.

Hello Susan, what lovely words and photographs today!

'Pondside' put it perfectly, it is sometimes difficult to see past the trials and obstacles we encounter daily. Yesterday I was reading on one of the blog's on my list and came across a video talk of the Buddhist, Thich Nhat Hanh. It was on
milk-moon.blogspot.com
It takes about 20 mins to watch, but I found it helpful.
I wrote down a part.

"Enjoy breathing in
Enjoy breathing out!
And smile,
We are all still alive."

Sending a hug,

Indeed, the Autumn is beginning to tickle at the edges. With the cold rains of late, a simmering soup, together with warm scones are a perfect evening meal.

Thank you for sharing such a lovely peek into your world Susan.

Warmly,

Hello Susan,
Thank you for leaving me a comment, I am so pleased to have found your blog again.

I enjoyed your beautiful photos and wish I could grow a vine like that one.

The tail end of hurricane Katia has given us quite a battering over the last couple of days but the storm has passed now and all is calm and clear tonight with the most beautiful harvest moon.

No truer words Susan. We often shudder at the hard things, but in the long run, they are the very things that help us see our way more clearly.
I think the comfort foods of Autumn are calling me already. I even baked some dill bread the other day and totally shocked my husband! I am putting the warm throws out and extra quilts on the beds. It must be time.
It was so good to have you come by and leave such a dear message. It always is a highlight to see you.
sending hugs...
