Anticipation

Every winter Mother Nature serves up a blast of frigid Arctic air that sends shivers to our very core. The birds flock to the feeders relying on the generosity of those living in the dwellings where the seed is abundant and the kindness true. As I watch from the window, the chill is abated by the warmth from the woodstove, the fragrance of potted spring blooms and gardening books.

Madelaine too must be daydreaming of moist green grass and fresh scents along the walking path yet to be discovered...

As for the kitties, they're both cuddled away in the basket waiting for spring...

Your dog is adorable! I don't blame your kitties for staying curled up in the basket. I know on cold days like that I like to curl up under a blanket with a book and a cup of tea and go absolutely nowhere!

Stay warm!

Oh...Madelaine is just adorable...and I love that your sweet little kitties are sleeping in that lovely basket. :)

We've had lots of arctic air and snow here in Vermont..I'm enjoying the snow...the arctic air I could definitely do without...however, they usually go hand in hand this time of year...therefore.....I shall not complain.

Hope you are well my friend :)

Hugs,
Doreen

Oh how sweet Madelaine is. And the kitties all snuggled in their basket...that is just tooooo cute. I imagine that you are ready for at least a February thaw. When we lived in Wisconsin, usually in February we would receive a thaw of about 2 to 3 days and then another blast of winter. It was nice though, as it melted some of the dirty snow and made way for some fresh new snow.

It is almost 68 here and suppose to be 70 here tomorrow. It feels nice!! Wish I could send you some.

Hello Susan,
I am so ready for spring. We don't have anywhere the severe weather you have...but I can't wait for the warm sun and flowers to appear

Hi Susan...popping back again just to cool off!!! A little translation for you - pavlova is basically beaten egg white (like merinue), slowly cooked and served with cream/ice cream and fruit. Lamington is a vanilla cake, covered in like a chocolate icing mixture and rolled in dessicated coconut. Will do a post with recipes...maybe even on Australia Day...and here's me thinking everyone knew what they were...and yes, it is still 40c...am off to the beach later for a swim. I can assure you sunshine is on it's way...the mornings/evenings are darker now...have a lovely weekend, Dzintra

I am seriously praying for warmer weather and soon! Mother Nature played a cruel trick on the souls here in Southwestern Virgina dishing out single digit temps with wind chill factors of -22. Needless to say we almost had a riot! LOL! Actually the citizens blew the grid and we were without power for quite some time....that'll teach 'em! I have missed visiting your blog...I found a few minutes to do some surfing. Your house guests are adorable.....Pam

What a lovley home you have Susan, it looks so comfortable and snug with the snow outside, and the smell of hyacynths...I can smell them now...and lovely Madelaine on the sofa, and kitties in the basket, it is like the setting of a beautiful film....let the story begin....
