Gently Fallen Snow

Living nestled amongst the Great Lakes we are often affected by lake effect snow. Sometimes falling as much as 3" an hour it may not take long to cover the ground. This morning started with ice pellets and soon changed to gently falling snow.

It blankets the grass and makes for a picture postcard view from the window.

For those of you that don't live in a region that experiences one of Nature's wonders it is hard to describe. It can be soft and billowing or harsh and stinging. Today we were honored by the gentle kind that brought many visitors to the back yard.

A beautiful hawk that frequents the area at this time of year.

Dear Susan,
Happy Thanksgiving, The snow is beautiful...we don't get any snow where we live. Sometime it will snow
on the mountains to the west of us and it is stunning, the white capped
hills. We will be going up this weekend to cut a tree, my children wish it to snow, but not me. I am one
to enjoy its beauty from inside. Love
your photo of the little bird, so amazing he still is warm and at home even in the elements....hmmmm
something to think about, you have
a blessed day Pinkie Denise

Susan, your's was so much prettier than ours...we had that ice pellet, freezing rain nasty stuff..and it's still there. I've had to thaw my frozen locks on the car twice in 2 days. Hope this isn't a sign of the winter we're to get!

oh, my goodnes, Miss Maddie, we went up to 72 degrees on Thanksgiving Day! I must say, that I don't mind, i have a big house, and this warmer weather is helping to keep the heating bill down. As far as Dancing With The Stars, I do not understand why Marie was not eniminated. I love the "spice girl", and think she is terrific, but Marie has so many fans, I think it's quite possible that she could carry it off. Donnie is annoying me, though. I can not wait to see who wins. I also think, oh gee, the race care driver, is adorable, his name escapes me, and so is his instructor. Bye.

So beautiful, this dusting of snow. It is warm here today in N. California, 68 degrees with crystal blue skies! Thank you for this beauty!

Dear Miss Maddie,
Looks as if winter has hit your neck of the woods. Hope you are staying cozy and warm. It was twenty two degrees this morning on my walk. I like it this temp.

Thinking happy thoughts for you!

Just lovely, Susan. It snows at my parent's house (in the mountains to the east of us) - but not here in the Central Valley of California. So far, we have not even had much rain - a bit scary - so no snow in the Sierra. With all of the development on the outskirts of town, we now have hawks living in our decidedly urban neighborhood. I love watching them, but it makes me sad that their habitat has had to move.

A hauntingly serene scene such as this one pulls at one's joy to simply be. Beautiful!
