Where The Heart Comes Home

Maybe it is because my ancestry dates back to the earlier centuries of this land, for I have always felt a kinship to Britain.

From the misty moors of Yorkshire to the port of Torquay, this island is deep in my heart and rich in my blood.

Places that once inspired the writings of Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, Robert Burns and Daphne du Maurier fuel my longing to visit.

I have never been, perhaps some day. Until then I must be enriched by beautiful books, wonderful movies and the lovely posts of fellow bloggers.

And cottage-gardens
smelling everywhere,
Confused with smell
of orchards.

- Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Is there a place in your heart you've always felt akin to?

My maternal grandparent came from the
Azores Islands, its tropical, and I know that is why I love the beach and
ocean so much. My fathers family has
lineage back to England and royalty, I have alway wanted to go to England and Europe. When I was young I had
pen pals all over the world and dreamed of traveling the world.....someday I hope, thank you
for taking on an adventure Pinkie

Hello Susan, I think you should write for our Tourist Board!! Your words and feelings for our little wet Island are truly beautiful thankyou xx

I would give my heavily filled back teeth, for a lonely cottage, on a hidden path in Cornwall, and on clear nights I would listen to the sea, and watch the stars, without the light pollution, grow my own veg, live humbly, and sew....deep sigh.... when I get it you can come and visit, open ticket xx
Hugs

Miss Maddie, I LOVE YOUR WRITING! OH how WONDERFUL to sit a spell and visit your blog tonight~what a FUN find!

My family is from the Appalachian Mountains in the USA, and we're said to be Melungeon on my father's side. It's a very fascinating history~I'm just learning more and more about our roots and histories. It's funny~who knew when I picked up the mountain dulcimer and fell in love with it that it was a part of my hearitage? Now I'm love with all things Appalachia! LOL!

My darling does not like to research his family history. He's related to Nat Turner.... (((((HUGS))))) sandi

Oddly enough, I've always had an attraction to Egypt. Perhaps it has to do with an early desire to be an archaeologist. Beyond that, Italy is part of my artistic soul.

I've always wanted to visit England too!, where family lore says we own a castle...and while over there, perhaps, Scotland, Ireland, Wales. My ancestry is a melting pot!

well many places - altho I am from German and Czech ancestry - northern Africa calls my name as do gypsy caravans and (oddly perhaps) I am in love with my winter fairyland now buried in 18 inches of fresh snow...

I would have never known that you have not yet stepped foot upon this incredible land... for every post, every picture I find here, makes me think of the emerald islands... it is in your blood, for it flows into your creative eye and word and I find myself walking the moors and finding you there to greet me...

You know, I have always loved France. But I have to confess that the one time I went to England, I fell in L O V E!

England is so beautiful. There is something magical about it. I hope you will be able to go there, and shop the antique markets. sigh. The antique textiles they have will make you swoon, I know it!
